The UK broadband market, counted
What our directory says about who sells broadband in the UK: how many providers there are, what they build, where they are based, how customers rate them and what changed this month. Free to quote with a link back to this page.
What the directory shows this month
Each line comes straight from the charts below and can be quoted as it stands, with a link back to this page.
- 353active UK broadband providers in the November 2026 edition, down from 390 in April 2026, after we merged duplicate records, took out entries that were never providers and moved closed, merged and rebranded providers to our dormant records.
- 113business ISPs, the largest group, ahead of 102 altnets (29% of all providers).
- 66%of the 315 providers with a main technology on file sell full fibre first.
- 143of the 209 providers whose network we have on file run a network of their own.
- 55providers have their head office in London and 53 in South East England, the two busiest regions.
- 133of the 206 providers with a Trustpilot score have 4 or more out of 5 (65%).
- 100of the 268 providers with a founding year on file started in 2015 or later.
- 11active providers show a warning at Companies House: administration, liquidation, a voluntary arrangement, dissolution or a proposal to strike off.
Providers by type
Active providers, November 2026. Comparison sites and mobile-only brands are listed in the directory but not counted here.
Headquarters by region
Where each provider's head office is. 296 of 353 providers are on the map; the other 57 have no single base or no head office on file.
Year founded
Founding year on file for 268 of 353 active providers.
Trustpilot scores across the market
206 providers with a Trustpilot score, by band. Average score 3.9 out of 5. Profiles with no reviews yet are left out. Smaller providers often have far fewer reviews, so treat their scores with care.
Main technology sold
The 315 active providers with a main technology on file, each counted once.
Providers selling in each nation
UK-wide providers count in every nation. Selling in a nation does not mean selling at every address there: check your postcode.
Networks providers sell over
The 209 active providers whose network we have on file. A provider that sells over more than one network counts in each group, so the bars add up to more than 209.

Read from the Companies House register for this edition. Some providers keep trading while their company is in administration, liquidation or a voluntary arrangement, for example after selling the business or the network to a new owner, and some trade through a different company from the one on file. Open each page for the detail.
Change log
Every edition is kept, so you can see how the market moves. New providers join when we can confirm they trade; providers move to dormant when they close, merge or rebrand.
| Edition | Active providers | Added | Moved to dormant | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| November 2026 | 353 | 52 | 62 | 22 duplicate or folded-in records merged into the provider that now runs them, and 6 entries that were never UK broadband providers taken out. 1 record changed type and now counts as a provider. |

How complete the record is
Where we are strong and where there is still work to do. The gaps are listed so they get closed.
Share of the 353 active providers. Many small and business providers have no Trustpilot profile at all, which is why that bar is lower.
How each monthly edition is made
The same five steps on the first working day of every month, so editions compare like for like.
- STEP 1WebsitesEvery provider's site opened: is it live, what does it sell and where.
- STEP 2Companies HouseLegal status read from the public register: active, in administration or dissolved.
- STEP 3TrustpilotScore and review count read, with last month kept so the change shows.
- STEP 4Market newsLaunches, mergers and closures checked against named, linked sources.
- STEP 5CheckedEvery change is checked against its source before it goes live.
