This month's verified broadband deals Live deals update daily

Here is every broadband deal worth knowing about this month, from all 33 providers we can actually switch you to, sorted by what you will really pay across the first year rather than the number in the advert. We check every price ourselves and earn the same whichever deal you choose, so nothing is nudged up the list for commission. One thing worth knowing: the best prices often come from newer networks that only reach certain streets, so treat this as the national picture and run your postcode to see your own.

Every broadband-only deal from the 33 providers we can switch you to, 377 in all, sorted by first year cost. Prices are what each provider showed on 6 July 2026 and depend on your postcode, so always check your own. TV and phone bundles sit in the full dataset, 491 deals in total. First year cost is the monthly price across twelve months, including any introductory offer, plus setup.

How to read the yearly rise column: a plus figure such as +£4.00 a month is the fixed increase that provider adds each year, "No yearly rise" means the price is held for the whole contract, "after offer" is the price once an introductory discount ends, and "Could change" means the provider has not committed to a fixed figure (Sky and NOW work this way). Cuckoo customers moved to Onestream on 11 May 2026, and Onestream's deals are shown above. We check every price against what the provider itself shows, on 6 July 2026, and the full dataset and our workings are in the evidence pack below. We earn a commission on some Check availability links, and it never affects prices, the order deals appear in, or what we say.

Annual price rises, provider by provider

Since 17 January 2025, every new contract must state its annual rise in pounds and pence before you sign. So we compared them. The gap between the biggest brands and the challengers is now £48 per year, every year, before you even compare headline prices.

Britain's best kept broadband secret

Social tariffs: broadband from £12, and how to actually get one

If anyone in your household receives Universal Credit, Pension Credit or certain other benefits, you can get verified broadband from £12.50 per month. Vodafone has withdrawn its £12.00 entry tier, so the verified floor is now Virgin Media and Community Fibre at £12.50. Just 532,000 households use one, which is 8.6% of those eligible (Ofcom, 2026). Back in December 2023 Citizens Advice put the unclaimed savings at more than £800 million a year, and take-up remains stubbornly low. Here is every step, so claiming yours takes minutes, not weeks.

Who qualifies

Eligibility centres on means-tested benefits. Universal Credit is the most common route, and depending on the provider the list extends to Pension Credit, income-based Employment and Support Allowance, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance and Income Support. The benefit only needs to be received by one person in the household, and providers confirm eligibility electronically with the DWP, so there is usually no paperwork to post.

The big five, verified 6 July 2026

Social tariffs from the five biggest broadband groups, checked 6 July 2026 against provider social tariff pages and Ofcom's social tariff listings. All are open to new and existing customers, with no exit fee to move onto them mid-contract at the provider.

Network-specific tariffs

Who does not offer one. EE and Plusnet do not run their own broadband social tariffs (EE Basics is a mobile SIM tariff) and point eligible customers to BT Home Essentials instead, while TalkTalk and Utility Warehouse offer none at all as of 6 July 2026. If you are with one of them and money is tight, the tariffs above are open to you, and most major providers have committed to waive exit fees for customers moving to a social tariff. Ask yours before assuming you are stuck.

Prices, speeds and eligibility checked 6 July 2026. Ofcom maintains the full national list of social tariffs, including smaller regional providers, and our complete guide walks through every one: Broadband social tariffs, the full guide.

How to apply in four steps

  1. Confirm your qualifying benefit.

Universal Credit is the most common route. Check the provider's exact list on its social tariff page, because some also accept Pension Credit, income-based ESA and JSA, and Income Support.

  2. Pick a tariff available at your address.

Vodafone, BT, Sky and NOW cover most of the UK. Virgin Media, Community Fibre, KCOM and Hyperoptic depend on their network reaching your address, so run your postcode through the checker first.

  3. Apply with your National Insurance number ready.

Providers verify eligibility electronically with the DWP, usually instantly. You will not normally need to post any documents.

  4. Already in a contract? Move anyway.

Participating providers waive early exit fees when an eligible customer moves to their social tariff mid-contract, so a contract is not a reason to keep overpaying.

The average of each provider's cheapest deal is £22.55. A £12.50 social tariff saves an eligible household £120.66 a year against that alone.

The value layer

18 broadband tricks providers do not advertise

Deals are half the story. These are the rights and tactics that save UK households real money, each one verified against the named source shown. The first five are the flagship rights every household should know.

Trick 01

The price rise escape hatch

If your provider raises your price mid-contract beyond what your contract set out, you have 30 days to leave without penalty. Since 17 January 2025, any rise must be stated in pounds and pence before you sign, and inflation-linked rises are banned for new contracts.

Source: Ofcom (2024), mid-contract price rise rules, in force 17 January 2025, UK.

Trick 02

The minimum speed exit

Signatory providers must give you a minimum guaranteed speed at sign-up. If your speed falls below it and is not fixed within 30 days of your report, you can leave penalty-free, even mid-contract. Test your real speed first with Pulse, our free UK speed test.

Source: Ofcom Broadband Speeds Code of Practice. Signatories include BT, EE, Plusnet, Sky, NOW, TalkTalk, Virgin Media, Vodafone and Zen.

Trick 03

Automatic compensation is automatic money

Participating providers must credit you without being asked: £10.34 per day for a total loss of service not fixed after two working days, £32.31 for each missed engineer appointment, and £6.46 per day when a new service starts late.

Source: Ofcom automatic compensation scheme, rates in force from 1 April 2026, participating UK providers.

Trick 04

Social tariffs from £12 a month

Households on Universal Credit and other qualifying benefits can get broadband from £12.50 per month, and participating providers waive exit fees to move mid-contract. Only 8.6% of eligible households currently claim one. Full instructions are in the section above.

Source: Ofcom affordability reporting, 2026; Citizens Advice, December 2023 (unclaimed savings estimate).

Trick 05

Haggle with the right department

Frontline agents follow scripts; retention and disconnections teams hold the real discounts. Call about two weeks before your contract ends, say you are considering leaving, and quote a specific rival deal from the table above.

Source: consumer research on haggling outcomes; see the reference list below.

Trick 06

The win-back window

Actually starting a switch is the strongest card you hold. Providers routinely respond with win-back offers by letter or phone within days. If the win-back beats your new deal, you can cancel the switch inside the cooling-off period.

Applies alongside your 14 day cooling-off right on new contracts (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013).

Trick 07

Diarise your contract end date

Providers must send you an end-of-contract notification, and annual best tariff reminders if you stay out of contract. Out-of-contract pricing is where loyalty gets expensive, so the moment that letter arrives is the moment to compare.

Source: Ofcom end-of-contract notification rules, in force 15 February 2020, UK.

Trick 08

One Touch Switch does the admin

You contact only your new provider, they handle the entire switch including cancelling your old service, and compensation applies if the switch fails or leaves you offline. You never need to ring your old provider to cancel.

Source: Ofcom One Touch Switch, launched 12 September 2024, UK residential broadband.

Trick 09

New customer pricing, repeatedly

New customer deals are almost always cheaper than loyalty pricing, and switching at each contract end re-unlocks them indefinitely. Each sign-up involves a credit check, so time it around any mortgage application.

Standard industry practice across UK providers.

Trick 10

Cashback can beat the headline deal

Cashback platforms sometimes pay more than the difference between any two deals. Compare the total first year cost including cashback, vouchers and setup fees. When a cashback route beats our table, take it: we would rather you trust us than click us.

Check tracking carefully and screenshot your click-through.

Trick 11

Time the market

The deepest discounts and best gift card offers cluster around Black Friday and the January sales. If your contract ends within a few weeks of either window, briefly going out of contract and switching in the sale can beat renewing early.

Pattern observed across recent UK broadband sale periods.

Trick 12

Altnets undercut on price per megabit

Full-fibre challengers routinely beat the big four on price per Mbps where they reach, and several of them state no mid contract rises at all. Understand the consolidation trade-off before signing long: our research hub tracks the deals and mergers as they happen.

Computed from the verified table above, 6 July 2026.

Trick 13

5G home broadband is leverage

4G and 5G home broadband needs no landline, no engineer and often no long contract, and quoting it to a retention agent strengthens any haggle. In strong 5G areas it is a genuine alternative, especially for renters.

Three and Vodafone 5G home plans, verified in the table above.

Trick 14

Recontracting resets the terms

Asking your current provider to recontract can capture near new-customer pricing without switching. Any contract signed after 17 January 2025 must state rises in pounds and pence, so recontracting can also move you off older inflation-linked terms.

Source: Ofcom price rise rules, 2024, in force 17 January 2025.

Trick 15

Moving home rules differ sharply

Some providers waive early exit fees if they cannot serve your new address; others charge in full. Check the moving policy before you book the move, and get any fee-free release in writing.

Provider moving policies, checked against published terms.

Trick 16

The 6-week escalation

If a complaint is unresolved after 6 weeks, or you receive a deadlock letter sooner, you can escalate free of charge to an ADR scheme: the Communications Ombudsman or CEDR depending on provider. Goodwill credits often appear once you mention it.

Source: Ofcom approved ADR schemes; escalation window reduced from 8 weeks to 6 weeks.

Trick 17

The hidden fee sweep

Check four quiet costs before signing: setup fees, router return penalties when you leave, add-ons such as static IPs, and landline charges. With the copper switch-off completing by 31 January 2027, many households no longer need a landline add-on at all.

Source: Openreach revised switch-off programme, completion by 31 January 2027.

Trick 18

Bundle loyalty pricing, honestly assessed

Sky mobile discounts, Vodafone Together, EE One and Virgin Media Volt deliver real savings, but only if you would buy both products anyway. Price the bundle against the best standalone broadband deal plus the best standalone SIM before deciding.

Bundle terms from provider websites, checked 6 July 2026.

For the self-employed and small teams

Business broadband deals: what actually changes

Around one job in seven in the UK is self-employment, and most sole traders start on residential broadband. Sometimes that is exactly right. Here is the honest line on when to upgrade and what business products genuinely add.

Stay residential if

You work from home, an outage is an inconvenience rather than lost revenue, and you do not need a fixed address on the internet. Residential full fibre from the table above will serve most freelancers brilliantly, and it is usually cheaper.

Go business grade if downtime costs you money

Business broadband is really three things: a service level agreement with target fix times so faults jump the queue, a static IP address for hosting, remote access and card terminals, and business support teams with VAT invoicing. If a day offline costs more than the monthly premium, the SLA is what you are actually buying.

The switching catch every small business should know

One Touch Switch covers residential broadband only. Business lines still involve notice periods with your current provider, so diarise your renewal date and start the comparison early rather than discovering a rollover clause the week it bites.

Our full guide compares current business products, SLAs and static IP pricing across the major providers: Business broadband for small businesses, the full guide. You can also compare live availability at your premises through our comparison tool.

The cheapest deal across all 33 providers we can switch you to in July 2026 is Community Fibre's 100 Mbps full fibre at £14.00 per month in its London network area.

BroadbandSwitch.uk verified deals, 6 July 2026.

Community Fibre's 1 Gbps deal at £20.00 per month works out at 2.2 pence per megabit, the lowest price per Mbps we verified in July 2026.

Computed from the BroadbandSwitch.uk verified deals table, 6 July 2026.

Six brands add a fixed £4.00 monthly rise every year: BT, EE, Plusnet, TalkTalk, Virgin Media and Hyperoptic, while Fibrus, YouFibre, Zen, Truespeed, Rebel, Airband and Connect Fibre add nothing.

Verified from each provider's own listing, 6 July 2026.

Beyond the deals

Real situations, real rights. Each of these links to a full guide, and each one is sourced.

No decent broadband at all? Use the USO

The Universal Service Obligation gives you the legal right to request a decent broadband connection, currently defined as at least 10 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload, if you cannot get one. BT (or KCOM in Hull) must assess your address on request.

Rural or hard to reach? Check Project Gigabit and satellite

Government-funded Project Gigabit contracts are extending full fibre to hard-to-reach premises, and satellite broadband now offers a genuine fallback where fixed lines cannot reach. Check your address before assuming nothing has changed.

Vulnerable or need extra support?

Ofcom requires providers to treat vulnerable customers fairly. You can ask to join your provider's priority services register for priority fault repair, bills in accessible formats, and a named contact arrangement.

Bereavement and serious illness

Most major providers will end or transfer a contract without penalty when the account holder dies, and many offer flexibility for serious illness. Ask for the bereavement team, and do not accept early exit fees in these circumstances without challenge.

Provider bereavement policies, checked against published terms.

Renting? Know your install rights

You normally need landlord permission for a new line install, but many full fibre installs need no drilling at all where infrastructure already reaches the building. 5G home broadband needs no permission and moves with you.

See our full renters broadband guide.

Check the complaints league before you sign

Ofcom publishes complaints per 100,000 customers by provider every quarter. A cheap deal from a complaint-heavy provider can cost you in hold music. We track the latest table alongside our deals so you can weigh both.

Slow Wi-Fi is not always slow broadband

A large share of perceived slowness is in-home Wi-Fi rather than the line itself. Before paying for more speed, test at the router with Pulse, move the router off the floor and away from the TV, and consider mesh before upgrading.

Test free with Pulse at ukspeedtest.co.uk.

Broadband scams are rising: know the pattern

Genuine providers do not cold-call demanding remote access to your computer, and Openreach never rings about "compromised routers". Hang up, find the number on your bill, and call back. Report attempts to Action Fraud.

Parental controls come free with most ISPs

Every major UK provider includes network-level parental controls at no charge, and setting them up takes minutes. Our sister site walks through every provider step by step.

Your questions answered

Broadband deals FAQ

How do I get the best broadband deal in the UK?

Check what is available at your exact postcode, compare the total first year cost including setup fees and the stated annual rise, then use your position: new customers get the best prices, and existing customers can often match them by haggling with the retention team two weeks before contract end.

How often are these deals updated?

The live deals update daily. On top of that we re-check every price on this table by hand, publish the date we last checked, and aim to do a full review every month. If we get something wrong, the fix goes straight into our public corrections log.

What is the cheapest broadband in the UK?

For eligible households, social tariffs from £12.50 per month are the cheapest broadband in the UK. For everyone else, the cheapest deal we found on 6 July 2026 is Community Fibre's 100 Mbps full fibre at £14.00 a month in London, and the lowest first year cost is 4th Utility's 150 Mbps deal at an introductory £13.50 a month, which works out at £162.00 for the first year.

Can I leave my broadband contract if the price goes up?

If your provider raises the price beyond what your contract set out in pounds and pence, you have 30 days to leave without penalty under Ofcom rules in force since 17 January 2025. Older inflation-linked contracts you agreed to at sign-up generally do not trigger this right, which is one more reason to recontract onto post-2025 terms.

Do broadband prices go up every year?

Most large providers apply a fixed annual rise, stated in pounds and pence before you sign. As of 6 July 2026, the yearly rise is £4.00 per month at BT, EE, Plusnet, TalkTalk, Virgin Media and Hyperoptic, £3.50 at Vodafone and Three, and £3.00 at Community Fibre, while Fibrus, YouFibre, Zen, Truespeed, Rebel, Airband and Connect Fibre state no mid contract rises. Sky and NOW do not commit to a fixed figure.

Which UK broadband providers have no annual price rise?

As of 6 July 2026, Fibrus, YouFibre, Zen, Truespeed, Rebel, Airband, Connect Fibre and Quickline hold their price for the whole contract. Over a two year contract that saves up to £96 against a £4.00 riser, before you even compare headline prices.

How do I apply for a broadband social tariff?

Check that someone in your household receives a qualifying benefit such as Universal Credit or Pension Credit, choose a social tariff available at your address, then apply on the provider's social tariff page with your National Insurance number. Providers verify eligibility with the DWP, usually instantly, and participating providers let existing customers move mid-contract without exit fees. The full step-by-step is in the social tariffs section above.

Can I haggle with my broadband provider?

Yes. Ask for the retention or disconnections team, quote a specific rival deal, and time the call for the final two weeks of your contract. Consumer research consistently finds most people who haggle get money off.

Is switching broadband a hassle?

Not any more. Since 12 September 2024, One Touch Switch means your new provider handles everything, including cancelling your old service, and you are compensated if the switch fails.

Does One Touch Switch work for business broadband?

No. One Touch Switch covers residential broadband only, so business switches still involve notice periods with your current provider. Diarise your renewal date and start early, and see our business broadband guide for the full switching process.

What broadband speed do I need?

As a rule of thumb: 50 to 100 Mbps for most households, 150 to 500 Mbps for busy homes with several simultaneous streams, and gigabit only when the price per Mbps makes it a bargain. Test your current speed free with Pulse at ukspeedtest.co.uk.

Is it cheaper to bundle broadband and TV?

Sometimes. Price the bundle against the best standalone broadband deal plus the streaming services you actually watch. Bundles win when you genuinely want the TV package; they lose when the TV element is padding.

What if I cannot get decent broadband at all?

You have a legal right under the broadband Universal Service Obligation to request a decent connection, currently defined as at least 10 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload. Check Project Gigabit progress at your address, consider 4G, 5G or satellite options, and see our full rural broadband guide.
