Independent profile snapshot

This extended snapshot summarises how the provider presents itself in the UK market. It supplements the dataset-led summary above.

Lit Fibre is historically one of the UK's most successful independent altnets, which built a 200,000+ premises XGS-PON FTTP network across market towns in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Worcestershire, Essex and Suffolk. Registered as Lit Fibre Group Ltd (Companies House 12560467, incorporated 16 April 2020) at 15 Bedford Street, London WC2E 9HE and founded by Tom Williams and Ben Bresler in 2019, the business was acquired by CityFibre in May 2024 (share-based deal valuing Lit at approximately £80m, with former owner Newlight Partners becoming a minority CityFibre shareholder), with the network rapidly integrated into CityFibre's national wholesale platform. Post-network-sale, the original Lit Fibre management retained the retail ISP customer base and continued trading as a retail-only ISP over CityFibre's network until December 2025, when Zen Internet agreed to acquire Lit's retail customer base following Lit's decision to exit UK retail. Customer migration to Zen Internet took place January-February 2026, with Lit customers retaining their existing package, price and terms. Current directors Nicholas James Dunn and Simon Holden (also CityFibre directors). Trustpilot (historical) 5.0 from 3,354 reviews.
