Independent profile snapshot

This extended snapshot summarises how the provider presents itself in the UK market. It supplements the dataset-led summary above.

Post Office Broadband was a UK home broadband and landline brand operated by the Post Office from 2007, built on the TalkTalk wholesale network and aimed at households seeking a simple, no-frills package. In 2021, the Post Office sold its approximately 465,000 phone and broadband customers to Shell Energy Broadband in a strategic refocus on its core postal and financial-services business, and no new Post Office broadband contracts have been offered since. Shell Energy's broadband base was subsequently acquired by Octopus Energy in 2023 and then by TalkTalk in 2024, meaning former Post Office customers have now been migrated onto TalkTalk's platform. Post Office Limited (Companies House 02154540) continues to operate more than 11,500 branches across the UK, offering postal, banking access, bill-payment and other services, making it the country's largest retail network. Customers looking for a new broadband provider can now use Ofcom's One Touch Switch process introduced in 2024 to move between providers seamlessly.
