About Countryside Broadband
By its own account, Countryside Broadband began in 2002, when four people stuck on dial-up at about 30 kbit/s got talking in a pub. BT had told them it saw no business case for faster broadband in Woodcote, so they put money in the kitty, bought radio equipment and set up a company. Thames Water let them use the local radio tower, and about 50 orders arrived in the first few weeks.
The service still runs over radio links, so there are no poles to put up and no digging up your drive. The network is centred on Woodcote in south Oxfordshire, and the company says it can serve homes within about ten miles. Most customers are within 20 minutes' drive, which it says keeps the service friendly and local. It offers a phone service as well.
As of 2 November 2026, TOTSCo lists Countryside Broadband as a live retail provider for One Touch Switch, so it can handle the switch from your current provider.
