About toob
toob started on the South Coast in Southampton and is run from Portsmouth, with a second office in Stockton-on-Tees. It builds its own full fibre to the door, and since 2022 it has also sold over CityFibre's network in parts of England and Scotland. Uploads run as fast as downloads, with speeds advertised up to 2300Mbps and a Wi-Fi 7 router as standard.
The company was formed in 2017, and it says it was founded by former Vodafone directors Nick Parbutt and Mike Banwell. Ownership changed in 2026. Lender Ares took control after backer INPP declined to put in more money during an August debt-for-equity deal, and Ares invested again after a further deal in September. In October about 60 more jobs were reported to be at risk.
