Waiting for the big Black Friday broadband deals? You haven't missed anything yet

On 3 November 2026, BT, EE, Plusnet, Sky, Virgin Media and Vodafone hadn't launched Black Friday broadband deals, while Lightning Fibre, Connect Fibre, Gigaclear, Fibrus and Grain Connect had. So you haven't missed anything big. Today, check what's available at your postcode and note the total cost of your best option across the whole contract. Then judge every Black Friday offer against that one number, including the price rise already written into the contract.

What it means for youChecked 3 November 2026

If you're out of contract: There's no need to wait for a badge. Compare today, and switch as soon as the total cost works for you. Here's what you pay once a contract ends.

If you're mid-contract: Get your exact exit charge first. Fibrus, EE and Vodafone were each offering up to £300 or £400 towards exit fees this week, with conditions, so your new provider may pay it.

If your contract ends in December or January: Benchmark now, then compare again when the big brands launch. Virgin Media says it often releases deals "just before Black Friday itself".

  • Virgin Media says it often releases its broadband deals "just before Black Friday itself" (Virgin Media, 3 November 2026)

Who this is for: anyone in the UK deciding whether to buy broadband now or over Black Friday, whether you're out of contract, part way through one, or helping a relative. Take Sam, whose contract ends in mid December and who has seen offers from two altnets but nothing yet from their own provider. Sam is an example built from the calls we take, not a real customer.

Which broadband providers have Black Friday deals live right now?

Direct answer: five altnets had Black Friday 2026 deals live on 3 November: Lightning Fibre, Connect Fibre, Gigaclear, Fibrus and Grain Connect. None of the six big brands we checked had launched, and one of the live sales closes before Black Friday itself.

We opened each announcement at source, then had a second, independent check confirm it the same day. All five are regional full fibre networks, so your postcode decides whether any of them reaches you.

Other altnets were still getting ready: toob's own Black Friday page said its "2026 black friday broadband deals are loading" when we checked.

If one of these reaches your street, compare it with every other deal at your postcode before you order.

When will Virgin Media, Sky, BT and EE launch their Black Friday deals?

Direct answer: none had launched on 3 November 2026, and none gave a date, though Sky's page showed a countdown. Virgin Media says it often releases deals just before Black Friday, and EE says its details arrive a few weeks before the day.

No round-up can tell you this, because there's no press release to copy. We opened each brand's own Black Friday page, recorded what it said, and checked it again later the same day.

So nothing big has gone yet. Last year Plusnet launched on 26 November and Vodafone on Black Friday itself. Use the weeks in between to find your contract end date and the networks at your address, so you're ready when the brands do launch.

Our checklist on how to prepare to switch on Black Friday takes about ten minutes.

Are Black Friday broadband deals actually cheaper?

Direct answer: sometimes, not reliably. Of four providers we tracked across 2025 and 2026, two offered more outside Black Friday and two offered more on it. The total contract cost tells you which is which; the badge doesn't.

Which? tracked 175 home, tech and health appliances from eight retailers for a year and found "no deals at all that were at their cheapest of the year" on Black Friday itself. That research doesn't cover broadband, so we checked broadband providers ourselves.

Aquiss gave six months half price for Black Friday 2025, the same in May on selected full fibre packages, and eight months in August on full fibre plans. If the monthly price was the same, August beat the sale by two half-price months.

For Black Friday 2025, Community Fibre's top package cost £61 a month after six free months, rising by £2 in April 2027. In its July 2026 summer sale it was £39 with three free months, and prices were "locked for the duration of your contract". That's £295 less over the contract, on the offer with fewer free months.

It cuts both ways. Vodafone's 910Mbps CityFibre package was £24 at Black Friday 2025 but started at £29 in its June 2026 summer sale. And Grain Connect's Black Friday 2026 offer beat its own September deal on the same 2Gbps package.

Out of contract and wondering whether to hold on? Our guide on buying now or waiting for Black Friday answers that with today's prices.

Do broadband providers run sales outside Black Friday?

Direct answer: constantly. We verified 2026 offers in January, May, June, July, August and September, none tied to a shopping festival. A November sale is an ordinary event, so waiting for one isn't a plan on its own.

EE's new year sale and Sky's July price cuts are a good reminder that big brands discount outside November too. Altnets do the same: Community Fibre cut its 1Gbps price to £20 in June. If you're out of contract, a good offer today beats a possible one later.

How do I know if a Black Friday broadband deal is good?

Direct answer: work out the total cost across the whole contract: the months at each price, plus any fees, minus any reward card you'll really claim, divided by the months. Compare that number, never the headline price.

Same festival, same headline price, opposite answers. Virgin Media's three free months still averaged more than its advert, while Plusnet's Reward Card pulled its average below. The sum takes two minutes and it's the only reliable way to tell them apart.

Run your postcode and note your best total, then measure every November offer against it.

When will my broadband price go up if I sign on Black Friday?

Direct answer: if your provider raises prices on 31 March, 124 days after Black Friday 2026. A 24-month contract then meets a second rise in spring 2028. Both amounts must be in your contract, in pounds and pence.

Ofcom's rules mean "any price rise written into a customer's contract from January 2025 will need to be set out in pounds and pence, prominently and transparently, at the point of sale". So the figure is printed before you sign. You just have to look for it.

In recent terms the yearly rise is £4 a month at BT, EE, Plusnet, Virgin Media and TalkTalk, and £3.50 at Vodafone.

Some providers have stopped mid-contract rises altogether. Community Fibre locked prices for the contract term in July 2026, Grain Connect pledges "no mid-contract price hikes", and Lightning Fibre's Black Friday packages carry a commitment to "no annual price rises". That's worth real money against a deal with two rises.

Every provider's 2027 figure is in our April 2027 price rise tracker.

Can I switch broadband on Black Friday if I'm still in a contract?

Direct answer: yes, if the numbers work. Get your exact early termination charge, compare it with what you'd save over the new contract, and check whether your new provider will pay it for you.

Ofcom says early termination charges "shouldn't be more than the payments left on the contract (and in some cases could be a lot less)". If you start a switch through One Touch Switch, your current provider sends you the figure automatically.

Buyouts are generous this season. Fibrus's Black Friday packages include up to £400 towards your old provider's exit fees, ISPreview reported on 2 November. Fibrus's July 2026 terms cap it at £100 in many Northern Ireland postcodes and £400 elsewhere, and you claim within 40 days of your service starting, with your old provider's final bill as proof.

On 3 November EE said it would give "up to £300 towards any leaving charges", and Vodafone offered "up to £300 credit when you pay an early termination fee" to new customers on eligible plans bought directly from it.

A £90 exit fee against a £12 a month saving pays for itself in under eight months. A £200 fee against a £2 saving doesn't. Switching credit is, as our guide puts it, "not automatic: you claim it yourself", so diary the claim deadline the day you order.

See which providers pay your exit fees and how exit and setup fees work.

Is it safe to switch broadband during Black Friday?

Direct answer: yes. Under One Touch Switch you only contact your new provider, you stop paying the old one on the switch date, and providers must compensate you if the switch goes wrong.

Ofcom's rules also say "providers must compensate customers if things go wrong with the switch or they are left without a service for more than one working day".

Ofcom lists the scheme members as BT, EE, Hyperoptic, Plusnet, Sky including NOW Broadband, TalkTalk with restrictions off the Openreach network, Utility Warehouse, Virgin Media, Vodafone and Zen Internet. None of this season's five live altnets is a member, so if you order from one, ask what it pays for a late install. That's a question to ask, not a reason to avoid them.

Our One Touch Switch guide covers the switch step by step.

Can I cancel a Black Friday broadband deal if I change my mind?

Direct answer: yes, if you agreed it online, by phone or on your doorstep. You have 14 days to cancel without giving a reason. If you asked for the service to start in that time, you'll normally pay for what you used.

That's the right to cancel in the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and for a service like broadband the period "ends at the end of 14 days after the day on which the contract is entered into".

If you asked for the service to start early and then cancel, regulation 36 says you pay "in proportion to what has been supplied, in comparison with the full coverage of the contract". You pay nothing for that time if the provider didn't give you the required information about your right to cancel, or about that cost. Your contract summary sets out how to cancel, and Ofcom says you should get it in writing before you agree.

How can I tell if a Black Friday broadband discount is real?

Direct answer: ignore the claimed saving and compare total contract costs. If you do weigh a saving, ask how long the higher price was charged: the advertising watchdog expects at least three months of price history.

On 20 May 2026 the ASA ruled against Black Friday savings claims by John Lewis and Debenhams, and one of two Boots ads, after challenging them itself. It said it expected "at least three months of pricing history" to judge a reference price.

Sources for those checks: the CMA's price transparency guidance, the ASA's savings guidance and the banned practices in the 2024 Act. Real deadlines are fine, and this season has plenty: Fibrus closes on 15 November, Gigaclear on 7 December or sooner on two tiers capped at 2,500 orders, and Connect Fibre on 18 December.

Can I get cheaper broadband if I'm on Universal Credit?

Direct answer: yes. Ofcom says social tariffs are cheaper broadband and phone packages for people claiming Universal Credit, Pension Credit and some other benefits. Check them before you look at any Black Friday deal.

Ofcom's list of social tariffs includes ones from BT, Sky, Virgin Media and Vodafone, and from Fibrus and Lightning Fibre, two of this season's live altnets. As Ofcom puts it, "If your provider doesn't offer a social tariff, you can switch to one that does."

See every tariff with prices in our social tariffs guide.

Alex's closing thought

Opening six big brands' Black Friday pages on the same day and finding that not one had launched was oddly reassuring. Virgin Media's own FAQ answers "when?" with "November time. Sorry we can't be more specific." It means nobody has missed anything yet, and the weeks before the 27th are yours to use. The evidence on whether the badge is worth waiting for split two each way, which tells you the badge isn't the point. The total across the contract is. Frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026?

Black Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November. Broadband sales don't wait for the day: the earliest 2026 offer we verified, from Lightning Fibre, launched on 14 October, forty-four days early.

When does Virgin Media's Black Friday 2026 sale start?

Virgin Media hadn't said when we checked on 3 November 2026. Its Black Friday page was titled Coming soon, and its own FAQ answers the question with "November time. Sorry we can't be more specific. We often release our broadband deals just before Black Friday itself." In 2025 its offers were announced on 6 November and could be ordered until 10 December.

When does Sky's Black Friday 2026 sale start?

Sky hadn't given a date when we checked on 3 November 2026, though its page showed a countdown to launch. It said "Sky Black Friday is coming soon" and invited people to come back for deals on Sky TV, Sky Broadband, Sky Glass and Sky Mobile. Until it launches, compare Sky's current prices with every other provider at your postcode, so you can judge its offer the moment it appears.

When does EE's Black Friday broadband sale start?

EE hadn't launched on 3 November 2026, and its FAQ still gave last year's Black Friday date. Its page said "We'll be back with more Black Friday broadband deals later in the year", and its FAQ says details "will be available a few weeks before Black Friday". Its standing offer of up to £300 towards leaving charges was still live.

Does BT have Black Friday broadband deals in 2026?

Not when we checked twice on 3 November 2026. BT's Black Friday page showed no 2026 packages or prices and gave no launch date. Plusnet's page said its Black Friday deals will be back, and it was running £50 and £75 Reward Cards for new customers on Full Fibre 500 and 900, on 24-month contracts, ending on 19 November.

Are Black Friday broadband deals worth it?

Sometimes. Of four providers we tracked across 2025 and 2026, two offered more outside Black Friday: Aquiss gave more half-price months in August, and Community Fibre's summer deal cost less in total. Vodafone and Grain Connect were cheaper on Black Friday. The badge tells you nothing on its own, so judge every offer by its total cost across the contract.

Do I need to contact my old provider to switch broadband?

Usually not. Under One Touch Switch, which started on 12 September 2024, Ofcom says customers only have to contact their new provider. Your current provider automatically sends switching information, including any early termination charge, and the new provider manages the switch.

What happens if my new broadband is installed late?

If your provider is in Ofcom's automatic compensation scheme, it pays you without you asking: £6.46 for each calendar day a new service is late starting and £32.31 for each missed engineer appointment. Members include BT, EE, Plusnet, Sky, TalkTalk (with restrictions off the Openreach network), Virgin Media and Vodafone. If your provider isn't a member, ask what it pays before you book.

Can I leave my broadband contract if the price goes up?

Only if the rise goes beyond what you agreed. Ofcom says a provider that raises prices beyond what you agreed when you signed up must give you at least one month's notice and a right to exit without penalty. A pounds-and-pence rise set out in your contract summary is one you agreed to, so it doesn't open that exit.

Will a new provider pay my broadband exit fees?

Often. Fibrus's Black Friday packages, on sale from 2 to 15 November 2026, include up to £400 towards exit fees, and on 3 November EE and Vodafone each offered up to £300, Vodafone's for new customers on eligible plans bought directly from it. Fibrus's terms say you claim within 40 days of your service starting, so read the terms and diary the deadline.

Is a broadband deal with free months better than a lower monthly price?

Not always. Virgin Media's Black Friday 2025 deal gave three months free, yet averaged about £26.53 a month over 24 months once its April rises applied. Plusnet's £24.99 deal with a £160 Reward Card averaged about £22.99. Both figures are our arithmetic on the providers' published terms.

What is a broadband contract summary?

It's the short document your provider should give you in writing before you agree to the contract: one page, or three for bundles. Ofcom says it includes key information such as the charges, the length of the contract and how to cancel, so it holds the key figures for working out the true cost of a Black Friday offer. Check any reward card or bill credit terms separately.
