Starlink on the Isle of Man: refer a friend and get £25

Starlink works right across the island, from Bride to the Sound. Compare its plans here, pick up the tip that gets a Manx address through Starlink's checkout first time, and get £25 for every friend who orders through our page.

The short answer

Yes, you can get Starlink on the Isle of Man. CURA, the island's regulator, licenses Starlink to provide broadband here, and Ofcom licenses the radio airwaves it uses. You set the kit up yourself, and Starlink confirms the price for your address before you pay.

If your home has a name but no number, enter 1 at the end of your house name so the order goes through. Refer a friend through this page and we'll pay you £25 once their Starlink is installed and past the 30-day trial.

  • 1.5%of the island's internet connections were Starlink in the third quarter of 2024, up from 1% in 2023
  • 53%of connections were fibre in the second quarter of 2024
  • 2021the year CURA licensed Starlink and local partner Bluewave on the island
  • £25for each friend who gets Starlink through our page

Starlink needs a clear view of the sky, not a cable, so it reaches farms, glens and villages anywhere on the island.

Starlink plans, side by side

Here are Starlink's plans from our comparison. Tap through to order on Starlink's own site, and Starlink shows you the price for your address before you pay. Starlink changes its prices often: on 30 October 2026, ISPreview reported its 100 Mbps plan had dropped to £32 a month in some areas while other prices went up (Jackson, 2026).

Refer a friend

Know someone on the island who'd love Starlink? Get £25.

Send a friend your link. If they order Starlink through our page, and it's installed and past Starlink's 30-day trial, we pay you £25. There's no limit on friends, and you don't need Starlink yourself.

Four steps to the £25 referral reward: get your link, send it to a friend, they order Starlink through BroadbandSwitch.uk, and once it is installed and past the 30-day trial you get £25.

Island tip

Named house, no number? Here's how to get your order through

Lots of homes on the island have a name rather than a number, and Starlink's checkout wants a street number on the first line of the address. The fix is simple: enter 1 at the end of your house name, for example "Ballacregga Cottage 1". Starlink's own help pages say exactly this: if you don't have a street number, put a 1 at the end of the first address line (Starlink, n.d.-a).

Add the 1 after your house name, then carry on as normal.

Three more checks before you press order

  • Check the map pin. Starlink plots your home on a map. Make sure the pin sits on your house, not the end of the lane.
  • Use a real postcode. Starlink says it can't ship to PO boxes or to Google plus codes (Starlink, n.d.-a).
  • Order through our button. If a friend sent you, that's how they get their £25, and you still get Starlink's normal checkout.

One extra character, and the order goes through.
Ordering takes a few minutes on your phone. Have your house name, postcode and the obstruction check from the Starlink app to hand.

How to order Starlink on the Isle of Man, step by step

This is the order that saves the most hassle, from checking your sky to the end of the trial.

Six steps to order Starlink on the Isle of Man: check your sky in the Starlink app, check fibre first, compare plans on BroadbandSwitch.uk, fill in your address with 1 after a house name, set it up yourself, and use the 30-day trial.
Six steps from checking your sky to the end of the 30-day trial.
  1. Check your sky. Stand where the dish would go and run the obstruction check in the Starlink app. Tall trees and steep glens are the usual snag, and a few metres can make all the difference.
  2. Check fibre too. If full fibre reaches your door, compare it as well. There's a side-by-side further down.
  3. Compare the plans. Use our comparison to see Starlink's plans, then tap through to order.
  4. Fill in your address. Named house? Enter 1 at the end of your house name, and check the map pin.
  5. Set it up yourself. Plug it in, point it at open sky and let the app guide you. In exposed spots, fix the dish to a proper mount rather than leaving it on its stand. Thick stone walls can block Wi-Fi indoors, so RouterMap is handy for finding the best spot for the router.
  6. Use the 30-day trial. Starlink says that if you cancel within the 30-day return period, you get a full refund on the hardware (Starlink, n.d.-b). That's also when your friend's £25 becomes due, once you're past it.

Peel, from the air. The island's open hillsides suit Starlink well. In a tree-lined glen, try the obstruction check in a few spots before you fix anything.
Ofcom or CURA?

Who regulates Starlink on the Isle of Man?

Both CURA and Ofcom, doing different jobs. CURA, the Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority, licenses Starlink to provide broadband on the island and handles complaints about telecoms providers. Ofcom licenses the radio spectrum, because the UK's Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006 is extended to the Isle of Man (Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority, n.d.-b).

Who regulates Starlink on the Isle of Man: CURA licenses Starlink and takes telecoms complaints, Ofcom licenses the radio airwaves, and the Office of Fair Trading helps with contract disputes, with the complaint path Starlink first, then CURA, then the OFT for contract issues.
Three bodies, three jobs. For most people, CURA is the one that matters.

If something goes wrong

  1. Talk to Starlink first. Use the support section of the Starlink app or your account. CURA lists Starlink's complaints address as starlinkresolutions@spacex.com (Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority, n.d.-a).
  2. Still stuck? Contact CURA. CURA can step in between you and your provider and give neutral advice, and it keeps a log of every complaint to spot patterns (Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority, n.d.-a).
  3. A contract or consumer-rights dispute? CURA points people to the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading, which has the expertise for that (Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority, n.d.-a; Isle of Man Government, n.d.).

Did you know?

Starlink has a ground station on the island. In 2021, the island's regulator confirmed Starlink and local firm Bluewave had a licence to provide services and site equipment here, and Bluewave's ground station sits just outside Douglas (CNBC, 2021).

Questions people ask about Starlink on the Isle of Man

Is Starlink available on the Isle of Man?

Yes. Starlink is licensed by CURA to provide broadband on the island, and it works anywhere with a clear view of the sky. Use the obstruction check in the Starlink app before you order to make sure trees or hills aren't in the way.

Who regulates Starlink on the Isle of Man, Ofcom or CURA?

Both, doing different jobs. CURA licenses Starlink to provide broadband on the island and handles complaints about telecoms providers. Ofcom licenses the radio spectrum, because the UK's Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006 is extended to the Isle of Man.

Why won't Starlink accept my Isle of Man address?

Starlink's checkout wants a street number on the first line of the address, and many homes on the island only have a name. Enter 1 at the end of your house name, for example "Ballacregga Cottage 1". Starlink's own help pages recommend this when there's no street number.

How much does Starlink cost on the Isle of Man?

See the live plans in our comparison on this page. Starlink changes its prices often and shows the price for your address before you pay, so check at checkout.

How do I complain about Starlink on the Isle of Man?

Start with Starlink, through the app or your account. CURA lists Starlink's complaints address as starlinkresolutions@spacex.com. If you're still stuck, contact CURA, and for contract or consumer-rights disputes CURA points people to the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading.

Does Starlink work in Manx weather?

Yes, though heavy rain, storms or snow on the dish can slow it down for a while. In exposed, windy spots, fix the dish to a proper mount rather than leaving it on its stand.

Do I need planning permission for a Starlink dish on the Isle of Man?

Check before you fix anything to the outside of your home, especially if it's a Registered Building, where changes to the outside need consent. The island's planning team can tell you what applies to your property.

How does the £25 refer-a-friend reward work?

Get your personal link on this page and send it to a friend with an Isle of Man address. If they order Starlink through the button on our page, and it's installed and past Starlink's 30-day trial, we pay you £25.

When is the £25 paid?

Once your friend's Starlink is past its 30-day trial and our partner has confirmed the order, we email you to ask where to send the money, and pay within 30 days of that.

Can I refer more than one friend?

Yes. You get £25 for every friend in a different household who qualifies, for as long as the offer runs.

Do I need Starlink myself to refer a friend?

No. Anyone aged 18 or over can get a link and share it.

Is there a Starlink ground station on the Isle of Man?

Yes. In 2021 the island's regulator confirmed Starlink and local firm Bluewave had a licence to provide services and site equipment on the island, and Bluewave's ground station is just outside Douglas.
