Independent profile snapshot

This extended snapshot summarises how the provider presents itself in the UK market. It supplements the dataset-led summary above.

Virgin Media is one of the UK's largest home broadband, TV and landline providers, part of Virgin Media O2, the joint venture formed in 2021 between Liberty Global and Telefónica's O2 UK. Virgin Media's cable network covers around 17 million premises and has been upgraded in recent years to deliver full-fibre (FTTP) and gigabit-capable DOCSIS 3.1 services, with standard headline speeds ranging up to 2Gbps in eligible areas. Customers can bundle broadband with Virgin TV 360 and Stream boxes featuring Sky, Netflix, Disney+ and BT Sport apps, alongside pay-monthly landline and mobile SIM plans via Virgin Media O2's Volt propositions. The group continues to expand its full-fibre footprint through the nexfibre joint venture with InfraVia, targeting up to 7 million additional UK homes. Virgin Media O2 has its headquarters in Reading and Slough, and offers a range of Hub routers including the WiFi-6-capable Hub 5.
