Headline figures (July 2025 premises snapshot): 78% UK residential premises can get full fibre (23.7 million); 87% can get gigabit-capable broadband (26.4 million); roughly 14 million households could upgrade where fibre is available but take-up remains at 42% where fibre exists; about 255,000 premises still lack decent fixed broadband (10 Mbps down, 1 Mbps up).

Forecast direction (January 2028): Ofcom high-confidence plans point to about 86% full fibre and 91% gigabit-capable; upper stated operator plans stretch toward 95% full fibre and 97% gigabit-capable.
